Where It Started
A Kingsport girl
with a Volunteer heart.
Nikki grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee, raised by her father, USMC Colonel Miles Burdine, and her mother, Denise, a special education teacher. She has two younger sisters, Laura and Alyce, who also happen to be her best friends.
At the University of Tennessee, a required elective landed her at the campus TV station, The Volunteer Channel, and everything clicked. She became president of the station, helped launch original programming, and switched her major toward journalism and electronic media with a focus in political science. It was also at UT that she met her husband, Justin.
The Career

Nikki's path into Nashville television took nearly a decade and four different markets.
Hagerstown, Maryland
Her first job, a one woman band role shooting, writing, editing, and anchoring her own stories from the ground up.
Lexington, Kentucky
Moved up to anchor weekends at the local NBC affiliate, sharpening her craft over three more years.
Washington, D.C.
Reported and anchored for WUSA9, covering national elections, the 2017 Inauguration, and major breaking news. Earned an Emmy for her work.
Nashville, Tennessee
Joined WKRN News 2 in 2017 and became co-anchor of Good Morning Nashville with Neil Orne for 8 years, waking at 2am daily to be live by 4.
Overcoming Adversity
Living with Tourette's.
At age 12, Nikki was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, something she has since become a public advocate for, speaking at conventions and sharing her story openly.
She credits her supportive team and her husband Justin for understanding her tics and giving her room for moments of release without judgment, something she says shaped the grace and self-compassion she carries today.

Nikki lives in Middle Tennessee with her husband Justin, their miracle daughter Andi, their dog Reggie White, and their cat Lucky.
A Miracle Daughter
Andi was born at 28 weeks, weighing just 1.4 pounds. After nearly 3 months in the NICU, Nikki and Justin brought their fighter home. Andi is now a feisty, fearless kid Nikki calls her proudest accomplishment.
Animal Welfare
Nikki serves on the board of Friends of MACC, the volunteer and fundraising arm of Metro Animal Care and Control in Nashville, and helps lead an annual fundraiser for local animals in need.
A True Vol
Nikki bleeds orange. Saturdays are for college football and Rocky Top, a tradition that goes back to her days at the University of Tennessee.
